SymfonyCon Amsterdam 2025: Our Recap and Highlights

Breakthrough Opening: Symfony AI & Symfony 8

The conference began with a keynote from Fabien Potencier which is always one of the highlights of the event. This time, he surprised the audience by bringing it out Symfony 8 live on stage. This release is a shared ritual with the entire audience, and is carried out step by step. When the progress bar reached 100%, the participants went crazy! Symfony 8 is officially available worldwide 🌍

As the implementation completes, Fabien reflects on the evolution of software development and increasing AI integration. He emphasized its importance HTTP when interacting with AI models and underscores the important role of HTTP Client component.

Fabien then introduced Symfony AI, a topic that sparked much discussion throughout the event. The next few talks show how Symfony aims to make AI more accessible and truly useful in everyday life. This trajectory is part of a continuum: innovating without losing sight of the values that have been at Symfony’s core for 20 years.

Two Days of Inspiring Technical Talks

Over two days, the conference room hosted an extensive program covering advanced Symfony architecture, new features in Symfony, APIs, performance, security, best practices, of course AI, and much more.

Each session highlights different aspects of current framework challenges and their evolution. During breaks, interaction between participants continues and also with the Symfony core team. This technical and friendly atmosphere is part of the DNA of the Symfony community.

Adrian Roches

Two SensioLabs developers also took part this year:

  • Adrian Roches served “Blast Your CI with Daggers” shows how Dagger can simplify and improve the reliability of CI pipelines, especially for effectively testing different combinations of PHP and Symfony versions.

  • Stephen Llupa lead the session “Semantic Search: From Keywords to Intent with Symfony AI”where he explains how to integrate semantic search into Symfony applications using Symfony AI, sharing architecture and implementation examples.

Several lectures were delivered by speakers from the Smile group which is part of SensioLabs. This talk focuses on CI challenges, European strategic autonomy, AI, and search and retrieval.

All talks are now available for replayso you can see conferences you can’t attend in person. You can also purchase access to review all sessions.

Symfony BoothConference

There are lots of sponsors, such as MongoDB, Upsun, Jetbrains and Storyblok has a booth under the arch in the main hall. They presented their solutions and chatted with the participants, creating a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.

In the center of this large hall, we are happy to welcome the participants to our booth. The atmosphere of the venue inspired us to organize a treasure hunt with 3 puzzles referring to Symfony and Harry Potter, spread across the floor of Beurs van Berlage.

Great Birthday Party for Symfony

One of the interesting things about SymfonyCon is that it is unforgettable birthday party on Thursday night 🥳 The party was held at the Kanarie Club, right in the heart of De Hallen. This is quite an iconic place in Amsterdam, famous for its large food court. Everyone had dinner there before heading to the club. It was a joy to celebrate this meaningful moment with the community.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
